800V Architecture
A high-voltage electrical system that enables faster charging and improved efficiency in EVs.
Traditional EVs use 400V systems, but 800V architecture (pioneered by Porsche Taycan) doubles the voltage while halving current for the same power. Lower current means thinner cables, less heat, and faster charging speeds exceeding 250 kW. The Hyundai/Kia E-GMP platform achieves 10-80% charging in 18 minutes using 800V.
