Transaxle
A mechanical component that combines the transmission, differential, and axle into one unit.
Common in front-engine sports cars (like the Porsche 944, Corvette C5-C8, Nissan GT-R) to improve weight distribution. By moving the heavy transmission to the rear of the car, it balances the weight of the engine at the front, achieving a near 50:50 weight distribution.
