Regenerative Braking
A braking system that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy to recharge the battery.
In EVs and hybrids, the electric motors can run in reverse as generators. When decelerating, the motor creates resistance (slowing the car) while generating electricity that is stored in the battery. This extends range and reduces wear on conventional brake pads. Many EVs offer adjustable regen levels, with maximum settings enabling one-pedal driving.
