Dual-Clutch Transmission
An automated manual transmission with two clutches for seamless gear changes.
DCT (also called DSG, PDK, or DCT) uses two clutches—one for odd gears, one for even. While driving in one gear, the next is pre-selected on the other clutch. Shifting simply swaps which clutch is engaged, enabling near-instant changes. DCTs offer manual control with automatic convenience and are standard in most modern sports cars.
