Derived from the French for 'single shell', a monocoque relies on the external skin of the vehicle to support structural load, rather than an internal frame (body-on-frame). In modern supercars, this is often a carbon fiber tub (like the McLaren 720S), providing immense stiffness and lightness compared to aluminum or steel.
